তাই আমেরিকা কি করলো পাকিস্থানের সহযোগীতায় পশতুন জাতিদের নিয়ে ও দক্ষিণ ওয়াজিরিস্থানের মাদ্রাসার ছাত্রদের নিয়ে গঠন করে তালেবান। আর এটার নেতা বানানো হয় মোল্লা ওমর কে। আমেরিকা পাকিস্থান আমেরিকা থেকে টাকা পেতে শুরু করে এবং পাকিস্থানও ইসলাম ধর্মের নাম করে তালেবান নামক এই সংগঠন কে পেছন থেকে সহযোগীতা করতে থাকে৷ তালেবানদের উস্কে দেওয়া হয় যে ইসলামের ভূমিতে বামপন্থা চলবে৷ জিহাদের মাধ্যমেই আফগানিস্থানে কালেমার পতাকা উড়ানো হবে। এভাবে করেই আমেরিকা, পাকিস্থান সরকার ও পাকিস্থানের গোয়েন্দা সংস্থা আই এস আই এর সহযোগীতায় গড়ে উঠে তালেবান নামক এই সংগঠন। এভাবেই আফগানিস্থানে দ্রুত ছড়িয়ে পড়ে তালেবান৷ তারপর সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়ন সেখান থেকে বেড়িয়ে যায় ও কমিউনিস্ট বামপন্থী সরকার কে ক্ষমতাচ্যুত করে৷ তবে তালেবানের ভবিষ্যৎও বেশি সুখকর হয় নয়।
