Prannoy Kumar Verma has been appointed as the new High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh. This information was informed in a circular of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India on Friday (July 29).

According to the notification, Prannoy Kumar Verma, currently the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of Bangladesh. In a very short time he will join as Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Prannoy Kumar Verma will replace Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswamy in Dhaka. Vikram Doraiswamy will be posted in London.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Indian President Ram Nath Kovind visited Bangladesh to celebrate Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary and independence anniversary when Vikram Doraiswamy was High Commissioner.

বাংলাদেশে ভারতের নতুন হাইকমিশনার হিসেবে নিয়োগ পেয়েছেন প্রণয় কুমার ভার্মা। শুক্রবার (২৯ জুলাই) ভারতের পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানানো হয়।

বিজ্ঞপ্তি অনুযায়ী, বর্তমানে ভিয়েতনামে ভারতীয় রাষ্ট্রদূত প্রণয় কুমার ভার্মা বাংলাদেশের পরবর্তী হাইকমিশনার হিসেবে নিয়োগ পেয়েছেন। খুব অল্প সময়ের মধ্যে তিনি বাংলাদেশে ভারতীয় হাইকমিশনার হিসেবে যোগ দেবেন।

ঢাকায় ভারতীয় হাইকমিশনার বিক্রম দোরাইস্বামীর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হবেন প্রণয় কুমার ভার্মা। বিক্রম দোরাইস্বামীকে লন্ডনে পোস্ট করা হবে।

বিক্রম দোরাইস্বামী যখন হাইকমিশনার ছিলেন তখন বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের জন্মশতবার্ষিকী ও স্বাধীনতা বার্ষিকী উদযাপন করতে ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি এবং ভারতের সাবেক রাষ্ট্রপতি রাম নাথ কোবিন্দ বাংলাদেশ সফর করেছিলেন।
