3 minority brothers beaten and injured in Madhavpur, Bangladesh
In Madhavpur, 3 minority brothers were beaten up and injured for not giving them fish. The incident took place in the Shimulghar road market of Chatiain Union of the upazila last Thursday afternoon.
Amulya Bhowmik (55), son of Nepal Bhowmik of Shimulghar village, his brother Parimal Bhowmik and Neel Mohan Bhowmik (35) have been admitted to Madhavpur Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries. Amulya Bhowmik, who was injured in the hospital, said that on the way to take his brother Nil Mohan Bhowmik to sell fish, Sheikh Khairul Baki of Shimulghar village wanted to buy fish, when Nil Mohan did not give Baki fish, Sheikh Khairul and his men beat him up. When Amulya and Parimal went forward, they were attacked and injured.
Sheikh Khairul's cousin Sheikh Kamrul Hasan is the campaign secretary of Bahar Union Awami League, local people have alleged that Sheikh Khairul is dominating the area under the influence of his cousin.
However, despite trying to contact Sheikh Kamrul Hasan Bahar on his mobile phone, his mobile phone was found to be switched off.
Chatiyain Union Chairman Minhaj Uddin Chowdhury Kased said that he heard about the incident. Those who have been attacked are Hindu people, innocent people. I strongly condemn this incident.
Madhavpur police station officer in-charge Muhammad Abdur Razzak said that no complaint has been received. Complaints will be investigated and action will be taken.
