According to local sources, there was an argument between the people who came to play with the people related to the temple for the past few days. In view of this, the people of the temple committee prohibited the boys of the area from playing football in the field in front of the temple. On Saturday (August 6) around 4 pm, when the local boys went to play in that field, the temple officials forbade them to play again at that place. Enraged by this, the boys who came to play threatened the temple authorities. Later last night, Kali and Ganesha idols were vandalized in that temple. The police are working to find out whether it is mainly based on the game or there is any other reason. The police are questioning three people in the incident.

Piyush Majumder, president of Upazila Puja Celebration Parishad, said, I heard that on Saturday afternoon, there was a fight between the temple committee and the boys who came to play on the football field in front of the temple. This idol vandalism may have happened for that reason or for other reasons. He also said that this is the first such incident in this area.

Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Monirul Islam said that the site was visited early on Sunday (August 7) ​​after receiving information. On Saturday afternoon, the two sides got into a verbal altercation when football was banned in the field in front of the temple. Three people involved in the altercation have been brought to the police station for questioning. He also said that work is going on to find out the root cause.
