Allegation of encroachment of crematorium land in Birganj | বীরগঞ্জে শ্মশানের জমি দখলের অভিযোগ
In Birganj, under the leadership of two A'League leaders, the land of the crematorium was occupied and the sand was extracted and the tombs were vandalized.
In Birganj of Dinajpur district, two local Awami League leaders have been accused of vandalizing a crematorium. When the local Hindus tried to block the cremation land by taking over the sand and vandalizing the tombs, they were attacked by the land bandits led by Awami League leader Md Rahmat Ali and Abdur Razzak member.
According to local sources, under the leadership of former General Secretary of Nijpara Union Awami League Md Rahmat Ali and another Awami League leader Abdur Razzak, they have been occupying the crematorium site and excavating sand in Char Daspara crematorium area of Dhepa River in Nijpara Union of upazila. Several tombs in the crematorium were damaged during sand extraction. Last Friday (August 12) morning, when the people of Sanatan religious community of Das Para area tried to block the sand extraction by occupying the crematorium land, the terrorist forces of Awami League leader Md Rahmat Ali and Abdur Razzak member attacked and beat them. The people of the area became angry. Later, the situation calmed down with the intervention of the administration.
In protest of this incident, the Dhepa River Char Daspara Smashan Raksha Sangam Committee organized a protest march and human chain in Birganj around 11 o'clock on Saturday (August 13).
Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad Birganj Upazila Branch General Secretary Dipankar Raha Bappi spoke in the rally organized after the valedictory ceremony. .
The rally demanded the government and administration to take necessary measures to protect the Char Daspara crematorium including taking legal action against the attackers.
