Nila Didi's father, who left the home of fourteen men in Bangladesh in 1971, sits in West Bengal in India and still often cries remembering his motherland. Pulled by that feeling, Neela came running from Kalyani near the border and took a taste of Bengal full of life.
Once upon a time, the border was open for four days on the occasion of Durga Puja, the people of Far Bengal and Far Bengal used to travel freely between the two countries. They shared their joys and sorrows. But soon after the declaration of Bangladesh as an Islamic state, sectarian fundamentalism and militancy continued to increase. Militant groups choose this time to enter India. They easily enter India and get involved in evil deeds, and never come back. So the Indian government is becoming stricter day by day. On the occasion of Durga Puja, it is mandatory to first submit the ID card to cross the border. Militants also use fake ID cards to enter India. Due to abuse, the Indian government was forced to stop the travel altogether. And this is how the two Hindu Sanskrit lovers of Bengal got separated.

একটি সংস্কৃতির বিসর্জন
ভারত-বাংলাদেশ সীমান্তবর্তী সাতক্ষীরার ইছামতি নদীতে বিসর্জনের দৃশ্য। এতো সুন্দর দৃশ্যগুলো দেখে মনটা ভরে গেলো। ৭১এ বাংলাদেশে চৌদ্দ পুরুষের ভিটেবাড়ি ফেলে যাওয়া নীলা দিদির বাবা ভারতের পশ্চিমবাংলায় বসে আজও প্রায়ই কান্না করেন মাতৃভূমিকে স্মরণ করে। সেই অনুভূতির টানে নীলা দি কল্যাণী থেকে ছুটে আসেন সীমান্তের কাছাকাছি কিছুটা বাংলার স্বাদ গ্রহণ করেন প্রাণ ভরে।
একসময় দুর্গা পূজা উপলক্ষ্যে চারদিন বর্ডার উন্মুক্ত থাকতো, এপার বাংলা-ওপার বাংলার জনগণ অবাধে যাতায়াত করতো দুই দেশে। আদান-প্রদান করতো তাদের সুখ-দুঃখের। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশকে ইসলামী রাষ্ট্র ঘোষণার পরপরই বাড়তে থাকে সাম্প্রদায়িক মৌলবাদ ও জঙ্গীবাদ। ভারতে প্রবেশের জন্য এই সময়টাকে বেছে নেয় জঙ্গীগোষ্ঠীরা। সহজে ভারতে ঢুকে অপকর্মে জড়িয়ে পরে, আর ফেরত আসেনা। তাই ভারত সরকারও দিন দিন সীমান্তে কঠোর হতে থাকে। দুর্গা পূজা উপলক্ষ্যে বর্ডার পার হতে প্রথমে আইডি কার্ড জমা রাখা বাধ্যতামূলক করে। কৌশলে জঙ্গীরাও ভূয়া আইডি কার্ড তৈরী করে ভারতে ঢুকতে থাকে। অপব্যবহারের কারণে পরবর্তীতে বাধ্য হয়ে ভারত সরকার সম্পূর্ণ যাতায়াতই বন্ধ করে দেন। আর এভাবেই বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে পরে দুই বাংলার হিন্দু সংস্কৃত প্রেমীরা।
